Dr. Johnson utilizes all natural methods to treat gynecologic problems for women of all ages. She treats as comprehensively as possible working to rebalance mind, body and spirit. She sees patients for all their women’s health care needs from annual exams to acute and chronic conditions.

The Evergreen State College (TESC)

Dr. Johnson’s interest in women’s health began in the early part of her premedical education at The Evergreen State College (TESC). While working at TESC’s on-campus student health center, she became a medical assistant focused in women’s health. Her interest in medicine further developed through her volunteer work. Volunteering in a mobile van as an HIV test counselor and educator, she learned the importance of reaching out to undeserved communities. Later, working as a medical assistant at women’s health clinics, Dr. Johnson saw patients having to go from doctor to doctor to have their healthcare questions answered and to receive the care they really desired. She saw firsthand, both as a healthcare worker and through her own health challenges, that many women experience a lack of truly comprehensive and often compassionate gynecologic care. Having supportive and understanding doctors to mentor her education, Dr. Johnson decided to become a part of the healthcare solution and pursue a career in naturopathic medicine.

Commonly Treated Conditions:

peri-menopause and menopausal complaints, vaginal infections – acute and chronic, osteoporosis or osteopenia, painful menses, PMS, optimal nutrition for hormone balance and pregnancy, breast cancer prevention/post treatment, endometriosis, and fibroids.

ImageShe graduated with her doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) in 2002. As a part of her studies there, Dr. Johnson worked with naturopathic women’s healthcare experts: Drs. Tori Hudson and Kimberly Windstar. She also was mentored by a naturopathic midwife, Dr. Nora Tallman, and spent much of her education on-call for homebirths. The combination of women’s health focused clinical training with a comprehensive naturopathic education, allows Dr. Johnson to provide naturally based gynecologic care for women of all ages.

After completing her studies, Dr. Johnson ran a private practice in northern Maine. More recently, Dr. Johnson relocated back to her home state of Connecticut. In addition to her current private practice, she also works at the University of Bridgeport as clinical faculty.
